TPL Insurance in Albania is mandatory for all vehicles with Albanian license plates to circulate legally. Coverage is valid for one year.

What does it cover?

In the framework of the Law “On compulsory insurance in the transport sector”, every vehicle that circulates within the territory of the Republic of Albania must be equipped with the MTPL policy (Compulsory Insurance of the Owner of the Motor Vehicle for Civil Liability to Third Parties). This insurance includes the coverage of expenses as a result of material, health and property damage caused to third parties, due to the circulation of the insured motor vehicle.

The car insurance costs depend on the type of motor vehicle, engine power and year of manufacture.

MTPL insurance covers both the territory of Albania and Kosovo.

The insured must notify the police and the insurance company of the loss of the insurance and get a duplicate at one of SIGAL selling points.
